Natacha Rambova, Egypt, The Men & More

  1. As much as we admire Valentino, it is a shame Natacha Rambova is known only today as his ex-wife and is constantly pilloried by talentless inferiors. Instead of using her marriage to bareback on the Valentino name the rest of her life like Jean Acker (who is usually treated much more favorably), Rambova re-invented herself time and time again and had a very fulfilling life after her Hollywood years. She should be considered a role model for young women today. I have often wondered if there is any record of her mentioning Rudolph Valentino after 1930. Any reminiscing about her time with him? Any confiding to Hasselriss about her years with Rudy? Or did she just keep those memories in her heart for the rest of her life?

    1. Michael said Natacha's cousin, Ann Wollen told him that the family all knew that Natacha had to be the one to bring up the subject of Valentino. Hasselriss said she did not talk about Valentino or her Hollywood days at all. He thought she changed drastically in her mature years and it was a painful subject for her to revisit. I can look up that quote. I think the answers to some of this can be found in the article written by Herb Howe. It is in the back of Astral Affairs Rambova and Natacha gave him a very candid interview about her marriage to Valentino.

  2. Since you menționed The movie "Valley of The King" în your podcasts, I shall watch it since I was already planning to see it. I absolutely love Robert Taylor, an extraordinarly handsome man, one of my favorites actors of all Times. And to his credit, he was only married twice, which îs decent, considering The number of divorces and marriages among stars în that period. A class man all The way.

    1. Interesting. I do not know much about him. I think Eleanor Parker is well cast as the "Natacha" character.

  3. Honestly, after having watched "Valley of The Kings", I could find no similarities between Mark and Natacha's story, other than The location, The subject of egyptology and The name "Mark", which could have easily been conicidences. Other than that, The story îs different, The characters are different, etc. În my opinion, the movie was not inspire from their story.
