And Many More

Thirteen years ago today, Michael Morris introduced me to Renato Floris at the Convegno Valentino. Renato and I have ever since celebrated our anniversary on this day, after living together in four countries, traveling through many more, writing and publishing some 14 books or so last count, produced and recorded many podcasts and videos, fought the fight and certainly lived the love every single day.

Here we leave for Italy aboard the Grandi Navi Veloci. Seconds after this photo was taken, the ship left the quiet waters of the harbor and headed out into very rough seas. Happy Anniversary it is indeed!

  3. Evelyn and Michael’s presentations at the conference were, by a mile, the best of all of the offerings. It’s so very odd that Leider didn’t present. Alberto’s great granddaughter’s absurdly imperious carriage and monotone delivery were a a drag during her comments.

    1. That conference feels so long ago and I have told the story many times. I was surprised how basically banal most of the speeches were. Repeating things that anyone with even a mild interest in Valentino already knew. And i.e., P. Orlandelli made a presentation about the Famous-Players Injunction telling the audience how this document was so rare and laying it out. I felt like telling him it was online and anyone could download it which I did years before. So it went. I was honored to be a part of the conference and had no idea at the time how much my life would change.

    2. What is absolutely fascinating and telling though, is that there have been ZERO new Valentino discoveries made by any of the self dubbed Valentino Scholars since Evelyn’s 2009 presentation. I still can’t get over the great great great great ….. grandniece’s pronunciation of Valentino as “Voluntino” in her presentation! Perhaps she truly believed she was royalty condescending to grace the conference with her presence.

    3. The great grand niece, before saying a single Italian word should check the pronounce as, many times, instead of "Valentino" she said "volantino" which in Italian means leaflet, I found it funny and very sad at the same time.A leaflet gone with the wind of mediocrity and false truth! I was there and very surprised.
