Re: "Delicious Solace..."

I do not recall who sent this to me long ago, but I found it relevant to the recent mention of Daydreams and Valentino. I am not so convinced he wrote the following letter because it sounds like a neatly composed promotion for the book, but its fun to have and who knows... maybe he did.

  1. I have never believed that Valentino himself composed the Daydream poems (or My Private Diary for that matter). He got very comfortable, very fast outsourcing to ghostwriters and editors. And I may be in the minority here, but I am not a fan of the faun photos. Valentino is in such darkness he can barely be seen. Although the notion that he allowed himself to be made up and costumed as a gesture of love to his wife is beautiful and sensual, the photographic results are not (in my opinion). Valentino looks ridiculous and the images were used to undermine his standing and seriousness. He may as well have placed a “Kick Me” sign on his back. In fact, the ever conniving Acker submitted the photos as evidence of Valentino’s engagement with unwholesome elements in support of her claims for alimony.

    1. Catherine: The Baltasar Cue book, The True Rudolph Valentino was a surprise to me in that he included a letter Natacha wrote to Rudolph (which Rudy gave to him) regarding the writing of the Daydreams poems. I believe Natacha also mentioned Adela St. Johns was also involved in that project. Cue also divulges a great deal about the commercial creation of My Private Diary which I also believe was a ghost written piece of promotion.

    2. Yes Evelyn, I have the Cue book and I absolutely adore the letter Natacha wrote Valentino about Daydreams. The presence of St. Johns on the project, to me, is evidence that Valentino’s efforts at putting out the written word to his public required supplementation (heavy at times) from “professional” writers. He was ill served in this regard by the ghostwriting on the My Private Diary project, which made him sound like a stilted 18th century Englishman and stuffed the work with factual errors. I won’t comment on the Daydreams poems, other than to say there are three or four which are very moving.

    3. 6:41: Until I read that letter in the Cue book, I did not believe Valentino wrote a word of the Daydreams poems. I had to change my opinion on it.

    4. I know Bernarr McFadden published the poems in Daydreams, but I have read that he also helped write them.

    5. How did Acker get possession of the photos to use against Valentino? I'm sure Rambova meant for the pictures to be kept private, an extremely personal item for her alone to cherish as a token of their relationship.

  2. The Balthasar Cue book, translated by The Man In The Gay Pink Flip-Flops was, like the other one he translated by the fat, gay-hating French lezzie reputed to have had smelly feet, an absolute load of tosh. Cue's magazine articles were so sh*t that their US counterpart rejected them.

    1. I apologize to my readers for posting the 7:24 comment but had to demonstrate the high level of homophobic slurs which the VSC submits. Calling people "lezzies" as a derogatory comment and describing their clothing as being "gay" is extremely homophobic. And no U.S. magazine rejected Cue's work, he wrote in Spanish and was a highly-respected journalist. This is just more disgusting commentary which continues and I thank all of you who do contribute to this blog's dialogue in a rational and intelligent manner. This is the VSC at their finest.

    2. Balthazar Cue's book is a well written book and Rudy himself told the story to him.It is a book worthy in my library.

    3. David Bret is a homophobe himself.

    4. It’s the porn fiction writer. He is a one trick pony. We get it, you tired old beast. You find homosexuality alluring beyond measure, and yet you revile it at the same time. The paradox roasts you alive. Yawn! Work out your crap within the confines of your own skull, you are wanted nowhere.

    5. "Tired old beast" indeed. For someone who likes to fancy himself "routing out homophobes", calling women "fat lezzies" is a real give away that he is a total liar and a fraud.

    6. Remember: this creature 7:24 is welcomed and encouraged on the social platforms of TRT and Shady Ma, not to mention various FB forums, where this creepy critter prances about under numerous disguises.

    7. "Tosh," is a word only David Bret would use.

    8. Bret must be green with envy, he sees other successful writers whose books have been made into movies. And they are getting rich.

  3. No one but David Bret would utter a bitter comment like 7:24. Face it! You cannot succeed in your writing career and you are not welcomed anywhere and you have no evidence to back up anything.

  4. David Bret is a semi-regular on Shady Lady Martin's blog. She thinks Bret gives her blog a bit of an "international flavor". Of course, most days CM doesn't get out of her stained, ratty bathrobe or off of her broken down loveseat. Guess Bret may seem like an "exotic" to someone like her.

    1. Since they are still obsessing on Renato's chair with a vengeance, a love seat comment is fair.

    2. Not only is the love seat comment fair...but pretty accurate. How many times have we heard Dark Lady Martin say she would continue her Valentino/Rambova research, or go out to verify Evelyn's, except that she can't manage to get herself off of her keister to do her own investigative work.
Still Ms. Martin has so many credentials. First and foremost, she's the long lost cousin of Natacha Rambova. That is a total game changer in 'Valentino studies'. Further, and just yesterday, Martin revealed she also been in touch with Norma Niblock's living children in her quest to write her own account of Norma. Plus (drumroll please!) a member of Norma's family who was a doctor treated CM as a patient at one point in her life.
Such pedigree! You really need to get this treasure trove of your connections down for posterity Ma!

    3. 10:48: She needs to get her own game going. Its too sad and pathetic to even read about that. She is getting predictable in her obsession with me and that is boring. And boring is the very end.

      Delete
    4. 10:48: If it were not for me, she would have no "credentials" at all. If I told her I was about to write a new book on Elvis would she head on over in that direction?

    5. DarkMum has a pathological obsession with Evelyn. She's trying to live Evelyn's life vicariously...and grows more spiteful and jealous for doing so. Face up to it Ms. Martin: You will never have the wonderful life that the Floris have found together!

    6. 11:59: Thank you! Nobody lives a perfect life and we have our many challenges but it is sad Ms. Martin can not find her own life full of purpose and interesting things to share. That is things that do not relate to me! In 2019, when she was chatting so long and openly with Renato in her brief window of lucidity, she told him she felt brainwashed by Tracy Terhune. I have her comment on that. She is imo a true cult follower, mindlessly living every minute of her life to please the leader. I say mindlessly because she might be unaware how brain washed she is in her thinking and focus on me. Cults are dangerous for this very reason. People's loyalties and desire to please becomes too strong and in the process they lose their own critical process. imo.

Brainwashed by Tracy Terhune? How spineless must one be in order for that to be possible? But it does connect with the hysteria of Martin’s messaging. What we have hear is essentially a woman NO ONE LISTENS TO. Screaming at the top of her lungs into nothingness has probably been the theme of her life. The internet age has not been good for her, because it has created the illusion that she can be “heard” through her crappy writing. The forums have taught her that she can exert power simply by choosing a niche interest that she isn’t really interested in (Valentino), post incessantly, and drown out as many other voices as possible. Eleanor Gribbin and Simon Constable are additional examples of this. They’ll settle for being big fish in a microscopic pond.

    8. Well as I have said before. It does not matter what her reasons or what her personal circumstance is, if she throws out such inflammatory crap about people, especially me... she should expect a heated response. I am not in a coma and will defend us as long as it takes. People have sincere reactions to diabolical and destructive behavior and that is that. She has worked hard to defame our good names and our work and for that she will expect a response. If she wants that to stop then she needs to change the subject. That simple. She can scarcely claim victim with her track record. This has gone on for many years... since 2018 actually. No surprise to me at all that there is this response.

    9. 12:37 AM makes a good point about Cindy Martin choosing a niche interest that she really has no investment in in the crazy hopes of being "heard" in a small pond and drowning out everyone else.
In fact, I daresay that if there wasn't a Valentino biographer named Evelyn Zumaya, Shady Lady Martin would have zero interest in Valentino at all.

    10. 2:19: I would apply the same thing to Bret. When I came along he was over Valentino, his book was done and he had moved on to new victims. He only became possessed over Valentino in some act of revenge for my calling him out.

  5. As a fan of Vaslav Najinsky, the father of modern dance, well known for ballet choreography and performance, I love these photos of Rudy as Nijinsky in The Fawn. Maybe it was Natacha's tribute to Najinsky, she was a ballerina after all. Najinskys biography is fascinating if you need a good read.

    1. Hi Maggie, Thanks for the tip on the biography. And I think these quizzical photos of Rudy would never have been known about had they not been presented during his divorce from Jean Acker.
