Jeanne De Recqueville: An Honorary Citizen of Castellaneta

In the book, “Scrittori e Artisti Castellanetani dal Secolo XVII ai Nostri Giorni” by Francesco Saracino - Schena Editore – Fasano (Br.) 1994, we find the following citation:

We remember this writer, the academic-French and official biographer of Rudolph Valentino, who on August 23, 1981, upon the 55th anniversary of the death of the great star, was invited to Castellaneta as a guest of honor for his Memorial.

On that occasion, the mayor of the city, Profeesor Giuseppe Romano, during the solemn ceremony at the Rochira Theatre, on behalf of the municipality and citizenship, awarded Jeanne De Recqueville with an honorary citizenship diploma for her artistic and literary action in favor of the illustrious fellow citizen.

This testimony of gratitude is, in fact, for her work as the writer of: Rudolph Valentino - Edition France-Empire, Paris 1978, and for her battle in defense of the actor against his disparaging slanderers."
