The Man Wearing Glasses

My photo of Renato reflected in the old mirror (see post titled, “Find Renato”) prompted a response from a reader. They pointed out how a similar image occurs in The Son of the Sheik. At around 17:34 into the movie (see link), you will notice a mirror propped up against the tent pole.

At 18:23, a brief image appears in the mirror; that of a man wearing glasses.

Who is this? Was this intentional or a production glitch?

They also suggested it looked like Joe Kennedy. In March 1926, he moved to Hollywood to pursue business in the film industry. Its an interesting point in the movie and who knows?

  1. I would call this an editing blooper. Films are full of them. I'm sure it is just someone behind the camera: a production assistant, the director, a visitor to the set, etc., whose reflection was captured for a second in a mirror on the set. Obviously, it was missed when the film was edited. There are websites run by sharp eyed people who enjoy catching these kind of mistakes in movies.

It could be George Ullman, since he wore glasses.

  4. I think the "man in the mirror" in this scene from SON OF THE SHEIK could be squeezed out to be a new book length treatment from Viale Industria Pubblicazioni. After all, whoever he is had about as much impact on Rudy's story as Norma.

    1. 12:55: Wow. Your comment is dripping in jealousy. This is typical of the contributions from the Valentino Studies Community, i.e. with no impact on Rudy's story at all.

    2. I can't believe Ms. Zumaya gets such an ignorant comment like that @ 12:55 AM.
The Valentino Studies Community seems pathetic.

    4. Typical is right ! Cannot believe anyone would send in a comment like this. Rather ignorant one at that. By the way , how are your books doing? Jealous commentator.

    5. To 12:55 We know who you are! A disgruntled , bitter person who writes anonymous comments to himself , and has conversations with himself. Insulting people, torturing them and has wound up being detested by almost everyone.

  5. 12:55: your unrequited love for TRT has driven you mad. You poor, ugly thing - rather than dogging Zumaya to feel alive, you ought to flat out confront your dream of desire and demand an explanation for your persona non grata status on his forum and at the Memorial. He will never deign to acknowledge you. And yet you bow and scrape for his amusement with your obsessive comments on his deranged blog. You turn his stomach.

    1. If I recall correctly one of the VSC members told us that it is TRT's worst fear to have this one @ 12:55 on U.S. soil.
